Hyena Stomp is a project from the Italian-born/London-based duo, Severino and Nico De Ceglia. No doubt two of the finest exports from their native country, the pair have become major figures over the years in the London club scene.
Severino is part of the Horse Meat Disco crew. Their parties are a real institution in the London nightlife. From the legendary tents at Glastonbury and the Lovebox Festival, to their monthly residencies in Berlin and Lisbon, and with regular appearances in New York, San Francisco, Ibiza and Tokyo, they have taken over the world with their disco-influenced sound.
Nico De Ceglia has been scouting and pre-selecting music for Pete Tong’s legendary show on BBC Radio 1 for the last 10 years, constantly tipping him towards the more alternative and underground bits. A man that knows his music, Nico’s infamous Codex parties, which featured Severino as one of the resident DJs, were another institution in the London nightlife for many years at the legendary club, The End.
After crossing paths so many times over the years, it was inevitable that the two would move their long-term friendship and mutual respect into the studio. Sharing a wide range of inspirations from Kraftwerk to Apparat via Prince, from the Detroit sound to the cosmic and Afro one, from early house to classical… Hyena Stomp is a prime example of the musical appetite shared by the two Italians.
With remixes for Tevo Howard & Tracey Thorn, DJ Hell, The 2 Bears, Ali Love and original releases on the much respected Rebirth Records, Hyena Stomp are working on new material pushing their music explorations further. Keep an eye open for their versatile and much demanded DJ sets equally moving sweaty dark basement clubs to sunny rooftop parties.
